The day started well for the White Hot team however part way through the Cethana stage they were plagued with mechanical difficulties first losing ABS then having center diff problems. Day 5 - 01May2005
After an all night session in the workshop to fix the problems suffered on day four the White Hot team were confident they had a competitive car again. However the ABS failed on the first stage of the day making braking in the wet conditions an exercise in bravery. Jim Richards fell behind in his two wheel drive Porsche but Quinn and Garwood in their four wheel drive cars started to eat itno the White’s lead. Tony Quinn’s chage came to a sudden halt when he ran off the road and ended his race leaving only Greg Garwood with any chance of catching the White Hot car. They came close but not close enough ending the day 6 seconds behind. It was a hard fought and well deserved win to John and Jason White and the White Hot Motorsport team.
